In 2016 I had the opportunity to work with one of the first CrossFit gyms to open in the country, CrossFit Central. I took pictures of regular classes, competitions, charity work out events, corporate events and a bunch more. My main focus has been the athletes and their community doing the work outs. During the events and classes I am always amazed and inspired by these athletes. They are giving their all to a workout that can require a multitude of skills that can range from running, jumping, push ups, pull ups, lunges, box jumps, burpees, kettle bell swings and Olympic weight lifts.
During these workouts I see people working hard, who care about their health and are reaching their goals. These athletes work their a$$ off to reach personal records whether it's lifting 80lbs or 500lbs. Every personal record is a celebration. An article I read in Time magazine put it like this and I will paraphrase... "CrossFit allows Jo-Anne from human resources to feel something like the fierce kinship of Marines. The workouts are scaled (some athletes modify the movements, or do them with less weight). But everyone gives 100% effort." It's about the community. I think it's awesome.
Here are a few of my favorite pictures from this year. They inspire me!
